It was a small basket holding precious cargo.
She had known from the beginning this little one was no ordinary child. He was so beautiful. But she could hide him no longer. He was growing big and strong and loud.
She had prayed for months, before he was born and since the day of his birth. Prayed for God to give her wisdom, to spare her son, to comfort her breaking heart. Now she knew what she had to do. So she crafted a basket then prepared to float her precious son onto the Nile, into enemy territory. In faith, she laid her fine son inside, praying all the while. She placed all her hopes, all her expectations in God’s hands.
God had shown her when to shelter this little one. Now He was asking her to let go and trust Him with her son. After all, God had a much bigger plan for this baby. What a plan it was, deliverer of the Hebrews from slavery, leader of a nation to a land of promise, a friend of God.
The phrase “let go and let God” comes to mind. Along with the question, What things in my life is God asking me to place in the basket and float it into the Nile, away from me, and trust God to redeem?

Thank you for this reminder to "let go and let God." I have grown children that I keep putting into the basket; however, I keep taking them back out again. I need to remember to keep them in the basket and trust that God will work things out with them.
ReplyDeletesojourner - This was a major topic of discussion with the ladies in my group. How often we keep forgetting that God is in control and can be trusted. Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect example of "let go and let God."

ReplyDeleteGod continually reminds me to trust Him with my sons, to have Faith. As my sons grow, I see the "let go" and "let God." It's not easy. It's lonely to let go. I find joy, though, that by letting go, they have the opportunity to let God do wonderful things in their lives. Your post has soooo comforted me. Blessings on your girls trip!
