Stringing a Line

April 2010 012 As I was stringing lines in our garden to make the rows straight parenting thoughts came to my mind. How as parents, guided by our Heavenly Father, we seek to lay a straight path for our children to follow. They must then decide whether to follow or not. Even in the following there are clumps and ruts that get in the way and cause the lines to swerve. Isn’t life truly like this.

Hoe in hand the soil is turned to make it softer. Choices, keep to God’s line and hearts tender or wander away and harden hearts. The paths they choose will lead away from us down the line God has for them. May His ways be the line they are following – no matter where it leads.

Our children come behind and plant the April 2010 009seeds and give those seeds the nutrients needed to grow. May they plant seeds that will grow bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, self-control.

We all wait for the harvest. After all, God alone is Lord of the harvest.

Billy Coffey over at The High Calling Blog stated our purpose as parents so well. His last lines, written now in my journal, will stay with me a long time. They will encourage me as I walk the rows in this garden with our children. Reminding them of The One who lays the line for us all to follow.

I love this, Nancy. It reminds me of the scriptures about the "Plumb line", which I never understood until one day I asked my father-in-law to explain it to me. Jesus is our Plumb line.

Love the pictures!

Thank you, Nancy, for the words of encouragement, comfort and wisdom you left for me today. I now have another verse to claim...and to add to this path as He guides me along. SO glad to have met you!
