Some days I am so weary. It seems like all I try to accomplish is a waste of time and energy. Clean the house, wash the clothes, cook the meals, teach, go to bed and start all over again. I’m like a hamster on a wheel going nowhere.
“and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down beside the well.” John 4:6
These words bring comforting relief to my soul. Stepping off the wheel, I sit down and it’s okay to be tired. Breathe in and breathe out, listen to the birds chirp, and the wind rustle the leaves.
And yet, even as Jesus sat there resting his weary body he was still present in the moment.
His ear always listening to the Father’s voice. He saw the need in a hurting woman’s heart and offered her what she needed most – His eternal presence.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9
When I feel I am going nowhere, from Jesus example, I can learn to turn my nowhere into a now here moment. Now here, through a hug, a kind word, a listening ear, a prayer, I can offer His eternal presence even as I sit and rest my weary feet.

Slowly I read through the book of John. Today I contemplate John 4:1-42.

We are in this boat together, new friend. I know weariness and discouragement. The repetition of doing what seems to be thankless jobs seems, at times, to be fruitless. Let's embrace Truth together, for we know what we do for Him, with Him will produce a bountiful harvest. The waiting is just so hard -- and the persistence!
I love the title of your blog, and I don't do this often, but I wanted to share this with you -- a post I wrote awhile ago called "A Treasure of Darkness." I hope you enjoy if you have time to read it. Don't feel obligated to let me know either! Seriously. Just be still and know.

This is an absolutely beautiful post! I love the fact that Jesus meets us where we are with what we need right when we need it! Thank you for sharing!
You have no idea how I needed to read that...I am so physically tired from this past weekend and the last two days...I am going to rest, sit in His presence and remember those words of Scripture you shared. Thanks much.
Blessings on your day.
