Clean Hands

Slowly we make our way on Wednesday nights through the book of Ruth.  Reaching chapter three we read Naomi’s instructions for Ruth to make herself attractive.   After working in the fields gathering grain it was time for Ruth to take a bath.

I reflect back to my tabernacle journey and ponder the bronze laver.  The place between the brazen alter and the Holy Place.  Here the priest would stop and wash their hands and feet before proceeding.

Who may ascend to the hill of the Lord?  Who may stand in His Holy Place?  He who has clean hands…”   Psalm 24:3-4a

Ruth made herself clean before coming to Boaz.  Nothing I can do will make me clean enough to come to the Father God.  The Spirit of God encourages…

“Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body.…let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.”  Hebrews 10:19-20, 22

God declares I am clean.  My hands and my heart have been made clean. The sacrifice of His Son and my faith in His redeeming power purifies me and gives me the privilege to stand in His Holy Place.
