The Stuff We Carry

From the pulpit pastor teaches about “The Stuff We Carry”.   I think about the Lent journey with Christ to the cross, how I want to leave this season changed.  For what is the point of spiritual practice if it doesn’t change me?  I remember a quote I read last week, “A Christian is held captive by anything that hinders the abundant, effective, Spirit-filled life God planned for him.” I write these words in my journal as the pastor speaks.  Transforming his teaching into part of my daily walk.

Leave burdens at the foot of my cross
Walk into the resurrection -
Stop being robbed of the joy of our relationship
Walk into the resurrection -
Stop living in the doubt, the regret, being driven
   by winds of circumstance
Walk into the resurrection -
Stop feeling like prayers never leave the room
God doesn’t you hear, where are you God
Walk into the resurrection -
Stop wallowing in those same defeating sins
Walk into the resurrection -
Stop allowing anger and bitterness hold you captive
Walk into the resurrection -
Stop listening to pride, blocking our fellowship
Walk into the resurrection -
Forgiven – cleansed – made righteous in my sight
Walk into the resurrection -

so far has he removed our transgressions from us”

  1. I love the line "Walk into the resurrection" I needed to read this today, Nancy. Thank you!

  2. I like the rhythm I hear in this, Nancy. I once read a book on the Vietnam War called The Things They Carry. In one scene the author went through everythign the average soldier carried and how much weight it added up to. I'm so grateful there is One who carries me.

  3. Yes, the longer I read the more I pondered that line, "walk into the resurrection."

I want to think about this some more--

    walk into new life

walk where the grave has lost its sting

walk where death has lost its victory

walk where nail-scarred feet have paved the way

    walk into freedom

    I loved this post, Nancy!

The year has been reclusive as I have just been seeking the Lord and sharing tidbits. Today I quietly reopen the comments section for a while. Thanks for stopping by, listening, and perhaps sharing a word. In Him, mom2six.treasures
